Seatbelts |
||
|
Over recent weeks whilst out on patrol in Wardleworth, I've noticed an increasing number of drivers and passengers travelling without wearing seatbelts.
Many people underestimate the risks, especially on short journeys close to home. However, a collision can happen anywhere, and a seatbelt remains one of the simplest and most effective ways of reducing serious injury or saving your life in a crash.
As part of our ongoing road safety work, local officers will be carrying out proactive patrols and engaging with motorists. Where appropriate, drivers and passengers may receive words of advice, but enforcement action, including fines and penalty points, may also be considered.
As your local PCSO, I'd much rather have a conversation about road safety than attend a collision where injuries could have been prevented by something as simple as wearing a seatbelt.
Please take a few seconds to buckle up and ensure everyone in your vehicle does the same. It could save a life.
